Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 28: One of the prestigious college of Jammu these days has reportedly become a safe haven for the drug addicts as students who throng to the college fell prey to it as the peddler used the college campus blatantly without any fear of law.
As per the details available with Early Times, the Drugs consumption in the college is increasing at an alarming rate with each passing day in the college restaurant- thus putting the precious career of the students apparently at stake by making them prone to drugs with college administration turning a Nelson's eye towards this menace.
As per reports emanating from the college campus- what to talk of puffing cigarettes which is banned within college premises as well as in other educational institutions- there are more lethal drugs which are being used in the college which mock at the so called tall claims of the college administration of drugs free environment in the college campus.
in a free for all situation- it is beyond to understand how these drugs enter in the college which wrecks havoc upon the innocent students.
Even the police who is also required to keep a strict vigil over the miscreants who are involved in the supply of drugs is in deep slumber as they fail to check its free flow of drugs in colleges as compare to rural areas of Jammu where police take several measures to curb the menace of the drugs and even arrested notorious drug peddler in last few months.
The students who did not fall prey to drugs mafia told the Early Times that in college the atmosphere is not congenial for the studies as this college has become safe haven for drug addicts at an alarming rate as a result of which they have to suffer due to the criminal negligence and silence of the college administration- left with no other option other then to watch as mute spectators fearing backlash from the drug mafia that has taken deep roots in the college forcing them to study here with compulsions.
They said that several programs, seminars, rallies etc are being conducted by different Government colleges in order to aware the students about the ill effects of the drugs which have eaten the vitals of the society and destroy the very social fabric of the environment added that all these modes to make students and youths aware about drugs fails to yield positive result on ground.
The angry student told that this exercise is nothing- but just to gain hype before administration as the drugs are ruling the roost in the college that very much defeat the spirit of parents who send their children to college for study.
One of the official wishing anonymity told that there is dire need to rise above this occasion to tighten the noose of the students who fell prey to the drugs in the college and admitted that there is abrupt increase in the growth of drugs in the college that need to be curbed with iron hands.
