FIR registered against people violating restriction orders in Bandipora | Admin appeals people to reveal travel history, contact with COVID suspect | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
BANDIPORA, Mar 26: Bandipora police today registered a case against the violators who were defying the orders of restriction that were imposed by the District Magistrate Bandipora in the district. While as the district official appealed the people to reveal travel history or having COVID symptoms. According to sources that, despite the imposition of section 144 in the Bandipora district of north Kashmir, people were seen defying the orders and without any fear they were moving in the district. Soon after the complaints that were made before the authorities, the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza said that a large number of people had gathered outside an ATM at Pazalpora Chowk violating the restriction orders imposed under section 144 and also risking the lives of others amid corona virus pandemic. An open FIR No 07/2020 under Section 188 and 269 IPC have been registered at Police station Pethkoot against the unknown persons who violated the restriction orders and enquiry has been initiated. However, a senior police official said that, they are investigating the matter and shall identify the culprits soon by assessing the CCTV footage of the area. He said the people violating restriction orders shall be strictly punished. We have been appealing the general public to stay at their homes and stay safe, it is not only for their own safety but of others too, the chain of this pandemic disease can be broken by staying indoors, DC Bandipora, Shahbaz Mirza said. He said that general public is appealed to cooperate with the administration and ensure strict adherence to the order. He said violation of the order would constitute criminal offence and attract strict action under Section 188 of IPC. District administration has put in place a mechanism to ensure uninterrupted supplies and deliveries of essential services to the general public of the district. He said essential commodities will be home-delivered to residents as part of this mechanism, Mirza added. Meanwhile sources also said that, the District administration Bandipora has arranged Free Pick and Drop Facility for the people revealing travel history or having COVID symptoms. DC has said that anybody who has COVID-19 like symptoms including fever, dry cough and sore throat and has a recent undisclosed travel history or has come in contact with a COVID positive person or suspected positive person can contact District Level Surveillance Committee or Control Room on 01957-225024 or 9419010752 to avail free pick and drop service for mandatory screening at their nearest designated Health Institution.
