Kupwara so for Coronavirus free zone, DSWO designated as nodal officer

KUPWARA, Apr 2: In a bid to fight with the deadliest Covid-19, district administration Kupwara has created 14 quarantine centres at different places. While as 35 FIRs have been registered against the violators here in this north Kashmir district.
As on date Kupwara is Coronavirus free zone and the administration have established quarantine centres at 14 different locations.
We have total bed capacity of 900 out of which 85 have been occupied by those who have travel history and are in quarantine, said DDC Kupwara, Anshul Garg.
However another top district official said that five patients with travel history from the district were found Covid-19 suspects but their tests were found negative, adding so for we don’t have any patient that requires to be ventilated. Only those patients who suffer from acute respiratory problems need ventilators and so for, thankfully, no such patient has emerged in district Kupwara.
A separate Isolation Centre has been created in Kupwara for which equipments are being procured but that need a nod from Government of India as the equipment has to be airlifted, while as two critical ambulances have been kept ready, the official said.
He said that doctors and other staff in the hospital have been asked to work in field so that they could screen the suspects properly, while as the patients with other diseases or those who require surgeries are being taken care of as well in Kupwara hospital.
Deputy Commissioner Kupwara has appealed people, especially those who are active on social media not to create panic among people and don’t post anything without authentication.
It is learnt that, 35 FIR’s have been registered so for against those who have violated Prohibitory Orders.
People are asked to quarantine themselves at home as this is the only way to defeat this lethal virus, and sought cooperation from media personnel.
While as 145 migrant labourers present in the district are being taken care of and essential commodities are being distributed among them and there is no short fall of essential commodities.
We are delivering eatables and ration and cooking gas to people and they should not panic, the district official added.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Anshul Garg today designated District Social Welfare Officer Kupwara as Nodal Officer to facilitate specially abled persons of district Kupwara.
It is learnt that a formal order has been issued today in this regard in view of prevailing situation due to COVID-19 and to facilitate specially abled senior citizens and terminally ill patients, Javid Ahmad In-charge District Social Welfare Officer, (DSWO), Kupwara is designated as Nodal Officer, he can be contacted on his no 7006600351.
The officer shall oversee help line(01955252433) that shall be operational on all working days from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM to respond to any calls from such persons seeking any facilitation from District Administration especially for medicines, ration or any health emergency.
The Nodal Officer shall deploy adequate manpower for responding to calls from the public and furnish daily information of action taken to Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara.
