Not the Land of Snake Charmers Only
5/2/2020 11:07:58 PM

Omkar Dattatray

For years India was considered the land of snake charmers only by the western countries and the irony is it was considered so even by the westernised Indians as well. But the fact is that it is no longer the land of snake charmers only but a land which can boast of the scientific and technological feats which its scientists and technocrats have made. Nehru the first prime minister of India has given top most attention to the scientific thought and had laid stress on the scientific development for the overall development of the country. In a way it was during the time of Nehru that a sound basis was laid for the scientific and industrial development of the country. Therefore the notion of Indians being the snake charmers has undergone a change and the scientific development has taken place. But now it has proved itself at the international fronts by being part of UNHRC. In these days our prime minister Shri Narendra Modi was coronated as the champion of the earth. The magic of Modi is working at its best. The idea and practice of International yoga day and international solar alliance were welcomed wholeheartedly by one and all in the international community. Therefore the image of India as the land of snake charmers has undergone a sea change and it is no longer considered as the land of snake charmers only. Many scientific and technological inventions have proved that the country is not the land of snake charmers only as the epithet has been bestowed by the western world but the fact is that India has excelled itself in many fields which go to prove that the country is not the land of snake charmers only but a country which has given birth to many scientific inventions and technological feats. Even otherwise also the contribution of India to the fund of world knowledge is next to none. The number of zero is a great invention and discovery of India to the world fund of knowledge. Thus the fact that India has contributed to the fund of world knowledge cannot be exaggerated and one is forced to accept that India has contributed to the world fund of knowledge and science. Indians have excelled in various fields and one has to accept the Indian scientific development .In space technology India has made great strides and its achievements in the exploration of the space is very great and is a feather in the cap of India and cannot be ignored by anyone but it is a shining star of the countries scientists. Indian scientists have made many inventions and now we can claim that the country is not the land of snake charmers only but a country which can lead the world in 21st century. No doubt our hallmarks khadi, Yoga, Sanskrit have got critical acclaim in the western countries and this has dented our image as the land of snake charmers. Now India can safely claim to be the land of science along with culture as we Indians believe in the blend of science and culture and ours is the land of science and culture and we can take great pride in this blending of science and culture. The fact that 21st June every year is celebrated as the international day of yoga and this in itself is a great achievement in the international community and it has given a boost to Indian contribution to the world fund of knowledge and science. The recognition of the international day of yoga is not a mean development by any standard but one which has given a boost to the image of India in the international front. In fact India is today considered a country which is going ahead in the science and technology along with culture. Any way India is not the land of snake charmers only but a country which can boast to be a land of science, technology and culture. Hats off to Indian scientists, technocrats and to the blend of science and culture and its contribution to the world knowledge.
