Early Times Report

Jammu, May 2: The latest reply submitted by the administration of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in the Supreme Court against the restoration of 4G internet services, has signalled towards very remote possibilities of its restoration in near future but neitizens have been questioning the suffering of peaceful districts due to militancy hit Kashmir valley.
While opposing a bunch of petitions, demanding restoration of 4G services in Jammu and Kashmir, the UT J&K administration in the Supreme Court had submitted, “The restoration of 4G mobile data service will substantially increase the use of social media and other online platforms in uploading/downloading of videos and other propaganda material and their fast circulation, with resultant deterioration in the law and order situation in the Kashmir Valley”.
After the submission of UT admin, there seemed very remote possibilities of restoring 4G internet services in near future but netizens have started questioning the suffering of peaceful districts of Jammu due to militancy hit valley.
Commenting on the development, some social media users from Jammu districts have argued that most of the districts of Jammu province, barring few, have been peaceful for the last many years. In the submission before Supreme Court, the UT administration has given explicit reference of deterioration of law and order situation in Kashmir valley. “The people of Jammu districts have not been disrupting the peaceful atmosphere. The districts where some militancy related incidents have been reported, the restrictions on 4G services should continue but what is the fault of the peaceful neitizens of other districts of Jammu province, who have to suffer on account of the people from Kashmir valley”, a user said.
Several organizations of Jammu as well as parents of school going children have been complaining of facing hardships to download online lectures, avail online studies. “As per the submission made before the Supreme Court, the reply of UT administration has been totally concentrated to the turmoil hit districts of Kashmir valley and some incidents in hilly districts of Jammu province. It is beyond once comprehension as why the peaceful Jammuites have been led to suffer on account of Kashmir people”, a citizen said, adding that the Jammu as well as Kashmir province were totally different and should be treated differently.
“The security forces have almost curbed the militancy and as per details shared by Union government the militancy is at its lowest ebb but despite then UT administration is reluctant to restore 4G services from which it could be inferred that the 4G services would not be restored in near future”, a local said.
Pertinently, as per submission made by UT before Supreme Court, it had also maintained, “Internet is being used to support fallacious proxy wars by raising money, recruiting and spreading propaganda/ideologies and prevalence of internet provides an easy inroad to young impressionable minds”, adding, “Till 25 April, 108 terrorism-related incidents took place with 99 incidents being reported from Kashmir province, while nine others from Jammu province. Thirty civilians lost their lives, while 114 civilians were injured in terrorist-related incidents. Twenty Security forces personnel were martyred and 54 SF personnel were injured. Seventy-six terrorists were killed apart from arrest of 132 terrorists/ suspects”.
