Mayor holds meeting, asks officers to redress grievances of public

JAMMU, July 7: Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Chander Mohan Gupta today chaired a meeting wherein threadbare discussions on the redressal of burning issues of general public were held.
Mayor, JMC issued instructions to the Chief Engineer, PDD and Chief Engineer, PHE, that XEns/ JEs under their control be directed to attend the phone calls of Councilors for public importance matter.
Mayor, JMC issued instructions to the Chief Engineer, PDD that damaged transformers be immediately replaced, schedule/ unscheduled cuts be brought to the notice of Mayor/ Deputy Mayor and concerned Councilor of the ward, all the transformers be properly fenced with chain link fencing, all the old/ defunct electric poles lying on the main roads be immediately removed, connection should be provided where cabling work has been completed, electric poles be installed/ shifted where roads has been widened due to mega projects, upgradation of electric transformers, load of the individual households be increased, cabling be started in the areas where there is no cable, approval of scope of work for the proposed retendering of supply, installation, testing and commissioning of high Mast light and allied electrical infrastructure for street lighting within JMC limits and proper cleanliness be maintained especially nearby the installed transformers in the city as large quantity of garbage/ filth as well as China grass have been seen gathered in that particular area which is one of the reason of short circuit and damage to transformers.
Mayor, JMC also issued instructions to the Chief Engineer, PHE that leakages of water pipes be immediately plugged with proper lead instead of jute rope, bleaching powder/chlorine should be mixed with water supply to public to avoid any type of water borne diseases. Chief Engineer, PDD and PHE assured the Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation that every possible steps to be taken for redressal of the genuine demands of the general public and necessary instructions be issued to the staff to take the issues of Councillors on priority basis.
Dy Mayor, Purnima Sharma, Commissioner, JMC Avny Lavasa, Chief Engineer (PDD) Gurmeet Singh, Chief Engineer(PHE), Muneesh Bhat besides officers from JMC, PDD and PHE attended the meeting.
