PECC members in Rajouri, Kathua, Samba, Poonch, Udhampur, Ramban, Batote, Vijaypur observed the protest .The protest in Srinagar happended under leadership of Munshi Majid Ali, president, JKEEGA,Kaiser Ilahi,DEA, Zukernain Bhat„Ajaz Makdoomi,Shakeel Ahmed and others. The PECC strongly opposed the approach of Government wherein the Power Distribution sector is being contemplated to be privatised and service rights of the 27000 employees are being pushed into uncertainty amidst COVID-19.Government has forced the employees to come out in protest because of their push to privatisation moves amidst the Pandemic. We strongly condemn this and take it as a muzzling of our service rights. The Central Government having failed to arrive at consensus on the proposed Electricity Amendment Bill 2020 has unilaterally now decided to thrust upon the Union Territories the privatisation plan as it feels that the absence of any elected legislature is an opportunity to muzzle the rights of the common people and employees in particular. The public assets created over the years are being conceived to be given on a platter to the Private profit centric organisations in UT of Jammu and Kashmir which has remained deprived for infrastructural reforms in Power sector over the last 70 years.
