SRINAGAR, July 23: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir continues to witness a spike in Corona Virus cases as record 718 cases were reported today. Meanwhile, the death toll due to virus reached 282 as nine more people lost their lives in the past 24 hours. Reports said that Srinagar recorded four fresh deaths followed by Baramulla with three deaths and a death each from Kupwara and Pulwama districts. As on date, Srinagar district tops the list with 75 deaths with the Kashmir valley overall reporting 262 COVID-19 deaths. Jammu division has reported 20 such deaths so far. Reports said that Srinagar reported 158 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Shopian 109 cases, Kulgam 106 cases, Pulwama 56 cases, Jammu 47 cases, Bandipora 42 cases, Budgam 34 cases, Anantnag 33 cases, Kupwara 32 cases, Baramulla 29 cases, Ramban 20 cases, Rajouri 15 cases, Kathua eight cases, Udhampur seven cases, Samba and Poonch five cases, Doda and Reasi four cases each and Ganderbal & Kishtwar two cases each. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 718 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 117 from Jammu division and 601 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 16,429. Also nine COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 102 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 18 from Jammu Division and 84 from Kashmir Division. Out of 16,429 positive cases, 7,438 are active positive, 8,709 have recovered and 282 have died; 20 in Jammu division and 262 in Kashmir division. Out of 5, 48,877 test results available, 5, 32,448 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 3, 43,799 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 40,195 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 12 in hospital quarantine, 7,438 in hospital isolation and 41,651 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 54,221 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 3,608 positive cases, 2,268 active positive, 1,265 recovered, 75 deaths; Baramulla has 1,738 positive cases, 730 active positive, 948 recovered, 60 deaths; Kulgam has 1354 positive cases, 454 active positive, 874 recovered, 26 deaths; Shopian has 1293 positive cases, 445 active positive, 829 recovered, 19 deaths; Anantnag district has 1131 positive cases, 394 active positive, 718 recovered, 19 deaths. “Pulwama has 1128 positive cases, 559 active positive, 554 recovered, 15 deaths; Kupwara has 1008 positive cases, 390 active positive, 602 recovered, 16 deaths; Budgam has 984 positive cases, 450 active positive, 514 recovered, 20 deaths; Bandipora has 525 positive cases, 145 active positive, 373 recovered, seven deaths and Ganderbal has 309 positive cases, 163 active positive, 141 recovered, five deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 712 positive cases, 233 active positive, 467 recovered, 12 deaths; Rajouri has 501 positive cases, 379 active positive, 120 recovered, two deaths; Ramban has 439 positive cases, 194 active positive, 245 recovered; Kathua has 404 positive cases, 124 active positive, 279 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 382 positive cases, 82 active positive, 299 recovered, one death. “Samba has 349 positive cases, 172 active positive, 176 recovered, one death; Doda has 210 positive cases, 108 active positive, 100 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 164 positive cases, 32 active positive, 131 recovered, one death; Reasi has 98 positive cases, 53 active positive, 45 recovered and Kishtwar has 92 positive cases, 63 active positive, 29 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 16,429 positive cases in J&K, 3,703 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
