JK reports record 1617 fresh cases of Corona Virus, 17 more deaths take place

SRINAGAR, Sept 9: Records continue to be broken in Jammu & Kashmir vis-à-vis surfacing of new cases of Corona Virus with 1617 fresh cases of virus being reported today while as 17 more deaths took place in past 24 hours.
The number of positive cases in the union territory is 47,542 with the number of casualties being 832. The Jammu division bore the brunt of fresh cases as well as deaths as around 900 new cases were reported today with 10 people dying due to the virus as well in the same time period.
Jammu district reported 583 new cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 260 cases, Baramulla district 85 cases, Udhampur district 77 cases, Bandipora district 75 cases, Rajouri district 71 cases, Budgam and Anantnag districts 69 cases each, Kupwara district 51 cases, Ganderbal district 38 cases, Pulwama district 37 cases, Kathua district 36 cases, Doda district 31 cases, Samba district 30 cases, Reasi district 28 cases, Shopian district 23 cases, Ramban district 18 cases, Kulgam district 16 cases, Poonch district 11 cases and Kishtwar district nine cases.
Jammu district reported five fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by two deaths each in Srinagar, Baramulla, Rajouri and Reasi districts. A death each was reported in Anantnag, Bandipora, Kupwara and Kathua districts. So far 709 COVID-19 patients have died in Kashmir with 123 such deaths taking place in Jammu division.
The Jammu & Kashmir through the media bulletin informed that 1,617 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 894 from Jammu division and 723 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 47,542. Also 17 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; 10 from Jammu division and seven from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 620 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 52 from Jammu Division and 568 from Kashmir Division. Out of 47,542 positive cases, 12,839 are active positive, 33,871 have recovered and 832 have died; 123 in Jammu division and 709 in Kashmir division.
Out of 11, 31,076 test results available, 10, 83,534 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 5, 02,377 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 44,532 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 12,839 in isolation and 51,390 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 92,784 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 10,764 positive cases, 1,526 active positive, 8,994 recovered, 244 deaths; Baramulla has 3,199 positive cases, 703 active positive, 2,387 recovered, 109 deaths; Budgam has 3,088 positive cases, 839 active positive, 2,183 recovered, 66 deaths; Pulwama has 2,967 positive cases, 448 active positive, 2,459 recovered, 60 deaths; Anantnag has 2,713 positive cases, 639 active positive, 2,021 recovered, 53 deaths.
“Kupwara has 2,524 positive cases, 766 active positive, 1,702 recovered, 56 deaths; Bandipora has 2,502 positive cases, 630 active positive, 1,845 recovered, 27 deaths; Kulgam has 2,026 positive cases, 111 active positive, 1,875 recovered, 40 deaths; Ganderbal has 1,867 positive cases, 459 active positive, 1,383 recovered, 25 deaths and Shopian has 1,795 positive cases, 110 active positive, 1,656 recovered, 29 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 6,861 positive cases, 4,399 active positive, 2,389 recovered, 73 deaths; Rajouri has 1,169 positive cases, 330 active positive, 827 recovered, 12 deaths; Udhampur has 1,166 positive cases, 401 active positive, 761 recovered, four deaths; Kathua has 1,158 positive cases, 334 active positive, 813 recovered, 11 deaths; Samba has 900 positive cases, 296 active positive, 599 recovered, five deaths.
“Ramban has 728 positive cases, 75 active positive, 652 recovered, one death; Doda has 608 positive cases, 215 active positive, 385 recovered, eight deaths; Poonch has 601 positive cases, 211 active positive, 384 recovered, six deaths; Reasi has 507 positive cases, 160 active positive, 345 recovered, two deaths and Kishtwar has 399 positive cases, 187 active positive, 211 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 47,542 positive cases in J&K, 7,272 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
