Only three canceled, CBI investigation into fake license scam continues
10/4/2020 11:28:25 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 4: The issuance of fake gun licences in Jammu and Kashmir had created a row following which the case was handed over to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), despite all this J&K still tops the list of places where gun licences with all India permission, were issued during the past three years.
According to the investigation carried out by the CBI fake gun licenses were issued in bulk between 2012 to 2016, and two administrative officials were also questioned in this regard but even in last three years, Jammu and Kashmir is still at the top of list of states, which have issued gun licenses with all India permission.
According to the latest data shared by the Ministry of Home Affairs, a total of 22804 gun licenses were issued with all India permission from 1/1/2018 to 15/09/2020 across all the states and Union Territories of India.
Most surprisingly, out of these total gun licenses issued, Jammu and Kashmir had issued the maximum of 17905 gun licenses with all India permission, which accounts for 78.51 percent of the gun licenses issued across the country.
Moreover, in the same period a total of 94400 arms licences were renewed with all India permission from 1/1/2018 to 15/9/2020 across the country, out of which in J&K, 14172 licenses with all India permission were renewed as per the data shared by Ministry of Home Affairs. Meanwhile, 2400 arms licences were cancelled from 1/1/2018 to 15/9/2020 across the country but surprisingly in Jammu and Kashmir only 3 arms licenses were cancelled during the same period.
“Though the investigating agencies as well as security agencies have been claiming that thousands of fake arms licenses were issued in Jammu and Kashmir but if the licenses were fake, why the same have not been cancelled by the administration till date”, an official expressed surprise, adding that the investigating agencies should have showed extra urgency to in the fake arms case and all the fake arms licenses must have been cancelled without any further delay.
