Three Day Poetry Writing Workshop Commences at JU

Jammu, Oct 11: Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu taking forward the online literary activities on the campus during COVID Pandemic organized three-day Poetry Writing Workshop for budding poets of the country. In all about 160 participants were registered for the workshop who were from different parts of the country. The workshop was conducted by Geetika Kohli Amla, a multilingual writer, activist and entrepreneur from Jammu. She is the founder of an Education company-Thinksta. She has written five books and given voice to young poets. During these three days the budding poets were taught how to refine their poems and thoughts using proper metaphors, similes, punctuations and other meters required in a good poem. IN concluding function Prof. Manoj K. Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu was the chief guest. In his presence the selected participants -Rajat Vohra, Simran, Kanisha Mahajan, Shivantika, Kaneez Fatima and others recited their poems. In his address Prof. Manoj K. Dhar appreciated the efforts of the department of students welfare, JU to organize such activities to chisel the minds of students to take on academic and literary activities so that they can vent out their expressions in a poetic way. He also appreciated the efforts of Ms. Geetika Kohli Amla who being a young entrepreneur of the region is taking keen interest to teach the ways to express one’s inner self. He also hoped to organize such workshops on regular intervals on the campus. Earlier Prof. Jasbir Singh, Dean Students Welfare presented the welcome address and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Pritam Singh,Asst. Dean (SW) and the programme was conducted by IfraKak, Cultural Officer (SW). The workshop was held under the supervision of Prof. Anupama Vohra, Chairperson CCC and Prof. Samridhi Arora, Co-chairperson CCC who were also present among other large number of participants and guests.
