Awareness camp on Mushroom Cultivation organized

Jammu, Oct 18: A one day awareness programme on Mushroom Cultivation was jointly organized by IFFCO and SKUAST-J at Jinder Mehlu, R.S. Pura. More than hundred members of IFFCO Farmers Friends Club under the chairmanship of Sham Gorkha participated in the awareness camp. Prof. J.P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-J who was the chief guest on the occasion motivated the farmers to adopt mushroom cultivation as an enterprise so that they could become self reliant as envisaged in the concept of Atamanirbhar Bharat. He appealed the farmers to take up maximum benefits of various programmes being run by SKUAST-J and IFFCO.
Bahadur Ram, State Marketing Manager, IFFCO gave a detailed presentation of the services and products of IFFCO. Dr. Jag Paul Sharma, Dean FoA discussed the importance of mushroom cultivation in diversified farming. Dr. Sachin Gupta, Incharge Mushroom Unit, SKUAST-J encouraged farmers to take up mushroom cultivation and he practically demonstrated the cultivation of dhingri mushroom.
Dr. Punit Choudhary, Sr. Scientist and Head, KVK Jammu interacted with farmers and discussed about the farmer friendly schemes. Proceedings of the programme were conducted by Vivek Verma, Field Officer, IFFCO. Vote of Thanks was presented by Dr. Narinder Panotra, Scientist, SKUAST-Jammu.
