Munish Gupta asks govt to pay attention towards residents problems of Sec-7 Lane 5 Guru Nanak Nagar
Residents crave for better roads, improved sanitation

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Oct 18: Munish Gupta, Editor in Chief, Early Times has asked the administration to pay serious attention towards problems of the people living in different localities of Jammu city in general and the residents of Guru Nanak Nagar’s Sector-7, Lane-5 in particular.
Referring to the problems being faced by the people of Guru Nanak Nagar in Gandhi Nagar Constituency, Munish said that like many other areas of this Assembly segment the residents of Sector-7/Lane-5 are also facing continuous neglect at the hands of the administration.
He said that despite repeated pleas and requests the official machinery turned a deaf ear to solve problems of the people.
Munish, who is going to contest the next assembly elections from Gandhi Nagar constituency as an independent candidate said that people of Sector Number 7 Lane Number 4 in Guru Nanak Nagar are forced to live a miserable life as the condition of interior roads of the area is bad and the same needs a complete overhaul so that people could heave a sigh of relief.
“Roads play one of the most significant parts in the life of people living in an urbanized society.
But it is a pity that most of the interior roads of the area are in a pathetic condition while there is hardly any attempt from the administration to improve their condition.
The problem needs to be addressed sooner than later so that the residents get some respite from the hardships they are facing at present,” said Munish.
Meanwhile, the locals of Sector-7 Lane-5 Guru Nanak Nagar while highlighting their problems said that they are subjected to step-motherly treatment of the administration since several inner roads of the entire area are in a dilapidated condition.
“The rundown condition of the roads in our area is a testimony of absolute administrative neglect and apathy,” said the residents.
“Despite the huge outcry by residents of the area against the bad condition of the roads, however, no action has been taken to repair the roads and the condition has worsened further.
Most of the roads are full of potholes but nothing has been done at ground level to improve the condition. Administration must know that improving the condition of the roads is a necessity not a luxury for the locals,” they added.
While the bad condition of roads is annoying the residents, they are also peeved over the piles of garbage in every nook and corner of their locality.
They complain that the garbage in the bins overflow onto the streets.
The residents said that the Municipal authorities must ensure lifting of garbage on a regular basis. “Municipal authorities claim to collect garbage from door to door every day; the ground reality is far from it.
The refuse is collected after long intervals due to which the situation gets worse when stray cattle start squatting on it.
If the garbage is lifted frequently there would be no collection of the same in the drains which causes overflow of drainage,” said the residents.
