Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 31: After three days of hectic deliberations, BJP managed to evolve consensus on the name of Tashi Gyalson as new chief executive councilor (CEC) of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development (LAHDC) Leh.
Highly placed sources said that it was only after intervention of the central leadership that the name of Gyalson finalized before the oath taking ceremony.
As reported earlier by The Early Times, CEC of the outgoing Council Gyal P Wangyal had lost election so party has deputed general secretary (organization) Ashok Koul to hold one to one discussions with all newly elected councilors as well as senior leaders of the party to evolve consensus on the name of new CEC.
Later, twenty-six newly elected councilors were administered the oath of office and secrecy on Saturday. Principal and district sessions judge Ranbir Singh Pathania administered the oath. BJP’s Tashi Gyalson of Lingshet constituency had been elected the new chief executive councillor while his party colleague Tsering Angchuk of Diskit constituency was elected the deputy chief executive councillor. The term of the fifth LAHDC, Leh will end on November 6. The oath-taking ceremony coincided with the first anniversary of Ladakh’s conversion into a Union Territory (UT) without legislature. On October 31, 2019, Ladakh was made a UT without legislature while J&K was converted into UT with legislature.
