Spike in COVID-19 cases: DDC Udhampur reviews control measures

UDHAMPUR, Nov 23: In view of sudden spike in COVID- 19 cases in the district, District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Dr Piyush Singla today chaired a meeting with officers of Health Department to discuss reinforcement of healthcare and control measures.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr. K C Dogra gave a brief about the COVID-19 scenario in the District. He informed that there are 400 active positive cases in the district of which 358 are under home isolation, 39 are in Covid Care Centres in the District and 03 patients have been admitted in the District hospital.
The CMO informed that 280 health teams have been deployed in the field for Covid-19 management, surveillance and aggressive contact tracing. He added that 24 health teams are deployed for sample collection in six zones of the district.
The DDC asked the CMO to prepare PHC and ward wise roaster for sample collection, while Medical Superintendent was directed to carry out sanitization of the District Hospital and ensure 100% sample collection during OPD. In order to sensitize the public of the district about the COVID- 19 disease, he asked the CMO to immediately start the IEC activities in Urban as well as rural area.
The DDC stressed upon the health department to evolve an effective containment strategy with special thrust on early detection of infected cases. The need to adopt effective strategy to control the infection in rural areas was particularly stressed upon. .
Dr. Singla further asked for pursuing the general public to stay home and adhere to social distancing and wearing face mask for preventing the spread of the Corona Virus in the district.
Among others present in the meeting were Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Syed Khan; Tehsildar Udhampur, Amit Verma; District Health Officer, Dr Mohammad Yasin; Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Vijay Raina and other officers of concerned department.
