SRINAGAR, Dec 26: The COVID-19 recovery rate in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 95.69 percent as 369 virus affected patients were discharged from different hospitals today. With 249 new cases the number of positive cases reached 1, 19,877 while the death toll reached 1867 following six fresh deaths.
Jammu district reported 96 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Srinagar district 49 cases, Budgam district 15 cases, Kupwara and Shopian districts 10 cases each, Pulwama district nine cases, Baramulla, Anantnag and Ganderbal districts reported eight cases each, Rajouri and Ramban districts seven cases each, Doda district five cases, Kulgam, Kathua and Reasi districts four cases each, Bandipora and Udhampur districts two cases each and Poonch district one case.
Jammu district in the Jammu division reported two fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by a death each in Doda & Poonch districts in Jammu division and Srinagar & Bandipora districts in Kashmir valley. So far 1,177 virus related deaths have occurred in Kashmir valley while the number of such deaths in Jammu division is 690.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 249 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 126 from Jammu division and 123 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 19,877. Also six COVID-19 deaths have been reported; four from Jammu division and two from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 369 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 203 from Jammu division and 166 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 19,877 positive cases, 3,288 are active positive, 1, 14,722 have recovered and 1,867 have died; 690 in Jammu division and 1,177 in Kashmir division.
Out of 36, 93,803 test results available, 35, 73,926 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 66,082 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 14,899 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 3,288 in isolation and 30,238 in home surveillance. Besides, 8, 15,790 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 25,045 positive cases, 556 active positive, 24,044 recovered, 445 deaths; Baramulla has 7,904 positive cases, 139 active positive, 7,594 recovered, 171deaths; Budgam has 7,540 positive cases, 179 active positive, 7,524 recovered, 107 deaths; Pulwama has 5,498 positive cases, 188 active positive, 5,222 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,495 positive cases, 141 active positive, 5,264 recovered, 90 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,762 positive cases, 109 active positive, 4,570 recovered, 83 deaths; Bandipora has 4,626 positive cases, 75 active positive, 4,491 recovered, 60 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,452 positive cases, 110 active positive, 4,299 recovered, 43 deaths; Kulgam has 2,655 positive cases, 70 active positive, 2,532 recovered, 53 deaths and Shopian has 2,483 positive cases, 99 active positive, 2,347 recovered, 37 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 23,435 positive cases, 847 active positive, 22,236 recovered, 352 deaths; Udhampur has 4,064 positive cases, 80 active positive, 3,927 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,819 positive cases, 210 active positive, 3,555 recovered, 54 deaths; Doda has 3,372 positive cases, 78 active positive, 3,232 recovered, 62 deaths; Kathua has 3,148 positive cases, 58 active positive, 3,042 recovered, 48 deaths.
“Kishtwar has 2,714 positive cases, 35 active positive, 2,658 recovered, 21 deaths; Samba has 2,713 positive cases, 213 active positive, 2,462 recovered, 38 deaths; Poonch has 2,439 positive, 25 active positive, 2,391 recovered, 23 deaths; Ramban has 2,092 positive cases, 28 active positive, 2,043 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,621 positive cases, 48 active positive, 1559 recovered, 14 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 19,877 positive cases, 11,231 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
