Mehbooba hails Dogra Maharajas to hit back BJP for disintegrating J&K | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 31: After demonizing Dogra rulers for decades together as ‘oppressor’ and ‘autocrat’, Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti is now invoking the same rulers to restore statehood to erstwhile state of J&K. “Visionary Dogra rulers had made J&K as a state but the ruling BJP has disintegrated the same state by bifurcating it into two Union Territories (UTs)”, Mehbooba said while interacting with media persons. “They (BJP leaders) have broken the great state which was formed by Dogra Maharaja”, she said. Earlier Kashmir centric parties have hailed Maharaja Hari Singh for introducing State Subject provision in the year 1927. They lauded the farsightedness of Maharaja Hari Singh in bringing the State Subject Laws into effect in 1927 and said the Maharaja had brought these laws into effect to save the interests of those locals holding land and finding representation in the state administration as there were apprehensions of non-state subjects usurping the locals. Interestingly Kashmir centric parties had opposed the resolution passed in J&K Legislative Council to declare state holiday on September 23-the birthday of Maharaja. But now these parties are hailing Maharaja as ‘visionary’. In an obvious reference towards State Subject provision introduced by Maharaja Hari Singh, Mehbooba regretted that land rights had been snatched from local residents of J&K and jobs were also the sale for outsiders. “Article 370 was not important for a particular section of the society, it was necessary to protect the identity and rights of all sections of the society living in J&K”, she said. |
