In digitalization era, CLUS invites job applications through offline mode
‘Move will deprive Jammu based aspirants to apply’
2/7/2021 11:26:20 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 7: In the era of information technology, maximum thrust of the governance is on digitalization but Cluster University Srinagar has invited applications for academic arrangements through offline mode only.
The varsity’s move has drawn flak as it would deprive a large number of Jammu based aspirants from filling application forms for the posts in colleges based in Kashmir.
According to advertisement notice issued by Cluster University of Srinagar, vide number CUS/Adm/Acad.Art/391-409/2021, dated 4/2/2021 applications have been invited for engagement of contractual lecturers on academic arrangement basis for constituent colleges of Cluster University of Srinagar for session 2021.
It is mentioned that the application forms could be downloaded from University website but I’s clearly mentioned that hardcopies of the application forms along with challan based payments as well as required testimonials shall be submitted to the office of Registrar Cluster University Office, Gogi Bagh Srinagar up-to February 16.
“If someone from Jammu wants to apply for contractual jobs in Srinagar, he would have to complete all the formalities and visit Srinagar to submit the forms only and in this process, he/she would have to spend a minimum of over Rs 8000/ to Rs 10000 to fill the form as he/she would have to manage stay in some hotel along with to-and-fro fare to the Valley”, an aspirant said, adding that even the aspirants from far flung areas of various districts of Jammu won’t be able to fill the forms, as they would not have enough money to travel.
Elucidating further the aspirants said that if someone from a village of Bani tehsil sought to fill forms, he/she would have to manage first stay in Jammu and next stay in Srinagar and in this way, the expenditure would be doubled. “In case of female applicants from Jammu the issue becomes more complicated”, the applicants said, adding that if online applications are accepted across the country then why has the CLUS made an issue out of it.
“The online mode saves energy, wastage of money as well as other resources and time but it is beyond comprehension as why offline mode has been decided by CLUS”, the aspirants said and appealed the Lieutenant Governor administration to issue directions to the university authorities to issue instructions to make a level-playing field for Jammu based aspirants to compete in Kashmir also.
Registrar or any other officer of Cluster University Srinagar were not available for comments as contact numbers of the officers are not available on the website while none replied on the landline number.
