JK reports 55 new cases of COVID-19; positive cases reach 125007

SRINAGAR, Feb 9: With no fresh case being reported in nine districts in the past 24 hours or so it seems the impact of COVID-19 has become less in Jammu & Kashmir. The union territory reported 55 new cases following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 25,007.
Srinagar district reported 19 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu and Budgam districts eight cases each, Udhampur district seven cases, Pulwama district five cases, Baramulla district three cases and Anantnag, Bandipora, Shopian, Rajouri & Doda districts one case each. No case was reported from Kathua, Samba, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban, Reasi Kupwara, Ganderbal and Kulgam districts.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 55 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 17 from Jammu division and 38 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 25,007.
Moreover, 55 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including eight from Jammu division and 47 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 25,007 positive cases, 593 are active positive, 1, 22,470 have recovered and 1,944 have died; 722 in Jammu division and 1,222 in Kashmir division.
Out of 47, 30,411 test results available, 46, 05,404 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 11, 84,419 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 34,164 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 593 in isolation and 1, 05,475 in home surveillance. Besides, 10, 42,243 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,396 positive cases, 204 active positive, 25,734 recovered, 458 deaths; Baramulla has 8,134 positive cases, 18 active positive, 7,942 recovered, 174 deaths; Budgam has 7,804 positive cases, 39 active positive, 7,647 recovered, 118 deaths; Pulwama has 5,766 positive cases, 52 active positive, 5,626 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,666 positive cases, nine active positive, 5,561 recovered, 96 deaths.
“Anantnag has 4,941 positive cases, 53 active positive, 4,802 recovered, 86 deaths; Bandipora has 4,699 positive cases, 17 active positive, 4,621 recovered, 61 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,647 positive cases, 53 active positive, 4,547 recovered, 47 deaths; Kulgam has 2,702 positive cases, 16 active positive, 2,632 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,578 positive cases, 14 active positive, 2,524 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,037 positive cases, 49 active positive, 24,617 recovered, 371 deaths; Udhampur has 4,226 positive cases, 26 active positive, 4,143 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,870 positive cases, two active positive, 3,813 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,434 positive cases, five Active positive, 3,365 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,256 positive cases, three active positive, 3,200 recovered, 53 deaths.
“Samba has 2,832 positive cases, seven active positive, 2785 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,732 positive cases, one active positive, 2,709 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,507 positive cases, 16 active positive, 2,467 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, two active positive, 2,112 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,645 positive cases, seven active positive, 1,623 recovered, 15 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 25,007 positive cases in J&K, 11,818 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
