10 years on, Construction of G&B Hostel at Kalakote still incomplete | Expenditure of Rs 1.25 Cr goes down the drain | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 11: Despite incurring the fund to the tune of Rs 1.25 crore on the construction of Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel building at Kalakote in district Rajouri, the project has been laying incomplete even after the lapse of ten years. Sources told Early Times that the work of construction of the Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel building at Kalakote was taken up in 2009-10 at an estimated cost of Rs 2.94 crore in the absence of Administrative Approval. “As per guidelines, the work should have been completed by 2011-12. The Department incurred an expenditure of Rs 1.25 crore and the work was withheld as no funds were received after 2013-14,” they said. They further said that a fresh application for an Administrative Approval for an amount of Rs 4 crore was submitted in 2016 to the concerned authority of PWD Rajouri, which had not been accorded for many years. Not only this, even it was observed that an amount of Rs 19 lakh was paid for its construction. Sources in the department told that the work could not be taken up due to non-availability of funds. However, fact remains that the work which was to be completed within two years had not been completed even after 10 years of its execution. Meanwhile, when ADC Kalakote Karishan Lal was contacted he said that some work is still incomplete as the building was occupied by the security forces due to which the construction could not be carried out. He further said that now the building has been vacated and soon the pending work will be completed. |
