SRINAGAR, Apr 30: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported a record number of 3,532 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 76,083. The death toll due to the virus reached 2,283 as 30 more people died in the past 24 hours.
Srinagar district reported 932 cases followed by Jammu district 495 cases, Baramulla district 316 cases, Anantnag district 239 cases, Kupwara district 206 cases, Kulgam district 165 cases, Budgam district 160 cases, Rajouri district 133 cases, Udhampur district 125 cases, Pulwama district 110 cases, Shopian district 105 cases, Kathua district 95 cases, Samba district 82 cases, Ganderbal district 77 cases, Reasi district 76 cases, Ramban district 74 cases, Bandipora district 50 cases, Poonch district 42 cases, Doda district 37 cases and Kishtwar district 13 cases.
Jammu district reported 13 fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by Srinagar district nine deaths, Anantnag and Rajouri districts two deaths each and a death each in Kathua, Ramban, Budgam & Kulgam districts. So far 1,394 people have died due to the virus in Kashmir valley with the number of such deaths in Jammu division being 889.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 3,532 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1172 from Jammu division and 2360 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 76,083. Also 30 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 17 from Jammu division and 13 from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 1287 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 310 from Jammu division and 977 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 76,083 positive cases, 28,359 are active positive, 1, 45,441 have recovered and 2,283 have died; 889 in Jammu division and 1,394 in Kashmir division.
Out of 72, 68,521 test results available, 70, 92,438 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 18, 07,565 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 95,113 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 28,359 in isolation and 15, 60,440 in home surveillance. Besides, 15, 60,440 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 43,438 positive cases, 8,346 active positive, 34,556 recovered, 536 deaths; Baramulla has 12,959 positive cases, 2,392 active positive, 10,370 recovered, 197 deaths; Budgam has 10,621 positive cases, 1,389 active positive, 9,101 recovered, 131 deaths; Pulwama has 7,163 positive cases, 938 active positive, 6,124 recovered, 101 deaths; Kupwara has 7,067 positive cases, 938 active positive, 6,028 recovered, 101 deaths.
“Anantnag district has 6,999 positive cases, 1,303 active positive, 5,586 recovered, 110 deaths; Bandipora has 5,454 positive cases, 402 active positive, 4,988 recovered, 64 deaths; Ganderbal has 5,442 positive cases, 485 active positive, 4,908 recovered, 49 deaths; Kulgam has 4,356 positive cases, 1,165 active positive, 3,128 recovered, 63 deaths and Shopian has 3,060 positive cases, 341 active positive, 2,677 recovered, 42 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 34,619 positive cases, 6,189 active positive, 27,952 recovered, 478 deaths; Udhampur has 6,052 positive cases, 583 active positive, 5,404 recovered, 65 deaths; Rajouri has 4,877 positive cases, 892 active positive, 3,919 recovered, 66 deaths; Kathua has 4,532 positive cases, 518 active positive, 3,951 recovered, 63 deaths; Doda has 3,804 positive cases, 272 active positive, 3,466 recovered, 66 deaths.
“Samba has 3,641 positive cases, 722 active positive, 2,867 recovered, 52 deaths; Reasi has 3,458 positive cases, 714 active positive, 2,726 recovered, 18 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,959 positive cases, 124 active positive, 2,813 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,956 positive cases, 338 active positive, 2,584 recovered, 34 deaths and Ramban has 2,626 positive cases, 308 active positive, 2,293 recovered, 25 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 76,083 positive cases in J&K, 19,456 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
