COVID-19: JK reports 71 deaths, 3967 new cases
Active positive 50925, recovered 197701, casualties 3293

SRINAGAR, May 18: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 3,967 new cases of Corona Virus following which the number of positive cases reached 2, 51,919; following 71 fresh deaths the death toll due to the virus in the union territory reached 3,293.
Srinagar district reported 666 cases followed by Jammu district 522 cases, Budgam district 454 cases, Udhampur district 272 cases, Baramulla district 196 cases, Kulgam district 190 cases, Ramban district 188 cases, Kathua district 183 cases, Anantnag district 156 cases, Rajouri district 141 cases, Bandipora district 134 cases, Pulwama district 127 cases, Poonch district 123 cases, Kupwara district 120 cases, Ganderbal district 116 cases, Samba district 107 cases, Shopian district 104 cases, Reasi district 60 cases, Doda district 59 cases and Kishtwar district 49 cases.
Jammu district reported 20 fresh deaths of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 11 cases, Rajouri district six deaths, Udhampur and Kathua districts five cases each, Baramulla and Pulwama districts four deaths each, Kupwara district three deaths, Samba, Budgam, Anantnag, Bandipora, Ganderbal and Kulgam districts two deaths each and Doda district one death.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 3,967 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,704 from Jammu division and 2,263 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 51,919. Also 71 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 39 from Jammu division and 32 from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 3,823 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,360 from Jammu division and 2,463 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 51,919 positive cases, 50,925 are active positive, 1, 97,701 have recovered and 3,293 have died; 1,532 in Jammu division and 1,761 in Kashmir division.
Out of 79, 96,880 test results available, 77, 44,961 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 19, 83,113 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 75,443 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 50,925 in isolation and 1, 24,809 in home surveillance. Besides, 17, 28,643 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 59,191 positive cases, 7,791 active positive, 50,699 recovered, 701 deaths; Baramulla has 18,352 positive cases, 2,847 active positive, 15,279 recovered, 226 deaths; Budgam has 16,852 positive cases, 4,219 active positive, 12,479 recovered, 154 deaths; Anantnag has 11,931 positive cases, 4,094 active positive, 7,697 recovered, 140 deaths; Pulwama has 11,014 positive cases, 2486 active positive, 8,386 recovered, 142 deaths.
“Kupwara has 9,616 positive cases, 1,735 active positive, 7,755 recovered, 126 deaths; Kulgam has 8,114 positive cases, 3,437 active positive, 4,594 recovered, 83 deaths; Bandipora has 7,224 positive cases, 1,087 active positive, 6,059 recovered, 78 deaths; Ganderbal has 7,166 positive cases, 1,070 active positive, 6,032 recovered, 64 deaths and Shopian has 4,642 positive cases, 1,138 active positive, 3,457 recovered, 47 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 45,357 positive cases, 7,901 active positive, 36,594 recovered, 862 deaths; Udhampur has 9,342 positive cases, 1,800 active positive, 7,438 recovered, 104 deaths; Rajouri has 8,323 positive cases, 3,419 active positive, 4,762 recovered, 142 deaths; Kathua has 7,588 positive cases, 1,413 active positive, 6,072 recovered, 103 deaths; Samba has 5,843 positive cases, 2,134 active positive, 3,622 recovered, 87 deaths.
“Doda has 4,831 positive cases, 969 active positive, 3,787 recovered, 75 deaths; Reasi has 4,598 positive cases, 721 active positive, 3,853 recovered, 24 deaths; Poonch has 4,406 positive cases, 1,373 active positive, 2,967 recovered, 66 deaths; Ramban has 3,917 positive cases, 910 active positive, 2,964 recovered, 43 deaths and Kishtwar has 3,612 positive cases, 381 active positive, 3,205 recovered, 26 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 51,919 positive cases, 21,095 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
