SRINAGAR, May 20: The COVID-19 recovery rate in Jammu & Kashmir reached 79.24 percent as 4,042 virus affected patients recovered in the past 24 hours. The union territory reported 4,169 new cases following which the number of positive cases reached 2, 60,057; following 67 fresh deaths the death toll reached 3,422.
Srinagar district reported 674 cases followed by Jammu district 499 cases, Budgam district 393 cases, Baramulla district 333 cases, Anantnag district 255 cases, Bandipora district 215 cases, Kupwara and Kulgam districts 206 cases each, Pulwama district 187 cases, Udhampur district 180 cases, Kathua district 174 cases, Rajouri district 158 cases, Ramban district 124 cases, Ganderbal and Samba districts 117 cases each, Doda district 79 cases, Reasi district 76 cases, Shopian district 65 cases, Poonch district 56 cases and Kishtwar district 55 cases.
Jammu district reported 20 fresh deaths followed by Srinagar district six deaths, Rajouri, Budgam and Pulwama districts five deaths each, Kulgam district four deaths, Doda, Poonch, Reasi and Kupwara districts three deaths each, Udhampur and Ramban districts two deaths each and Kathua, Samba, Kishtwar, Baramulla, Anantnag & Bandipora districts one death each. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 4,169 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) 1,518 from Jammu division and 2,651from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 60,057. Also 67 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 41 from Jammu division and 26 from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 4,042 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,533 from Jammu division and 2,509 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 60,057 positive cases, 50,554 are active positive, 2, 06,081 have recovered and 3,422 have died; 1,612 in Jammu division and 1,810 in Kashmir division.
Out of 80, 92,877 test results available, 78, 32,820 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 19, 99,215 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 74,131 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 50,554 in isolation and 1, 30,671in home surveillance. Besides, 17, 40,437 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 60,540 positive cases, 6,953 active positive, 52,872 recovered, 715 deaths; Baramulla has 19,056 positive cases, 2,971 active positive, 15,855 recovered, 230 deaths; Budgam has 17,656 positive cases, 4,376 active positive, 13,119 recovered, 161 deaths; Anantnag has 12,947 positive cases, 4,336 active positive, 8,018 recovered, 143 deaths; Pulwama has 11,372 positive cases, 2,536 active positive, 8,689 recovered, 147 deaths.
“Kupwara has 10,012 positive cases, 1,840 active positive, 8,042 recovered, 130 deaths; Kulgam has 8,469 positive cases, 3,389 active positive, 4,992 recovered, 88 deaths; Bandipora has 7,552 positive cases, 1,142 active positive, 6,328 recovered, 82 deaths; Ganderbal has 7,401 positive cases, 1,069 active positive, 6,267 recovered, 65 deaths and Shopian has 4,792 positive cases, 1,026 active positive, 3,717 recovered, 49 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 46,349 positive cases, 7,664 active positive, 37,781recovered, 904 deaths; Udhampur has 9,676 positive cases, 1,807 active positive, 7,761 recovered, 108 deaths; Rajouri has 8,623 positive cases, 3,446 active positive, 5,029 recovered, 148 deaths; Kathua has 7,920 positive cases, 1,311 active positive, 6,500 recovered, 109 deaths; Samba has 6,072 positive cases, 2,274 active positive, 3,705 recovered, 93 deaths.
“Doda has 4,974 positive cases, 1,063 active positive, 3,833 recovered, 78 deaths; Reasi has 4,727 positive cases, 642 active positive, 4,056 recovered, 29 deaths; Poonch has 4,568 positive cases, 1,320 active positive, 3,177 recovered, 71 deaths; Ramban has 4,109 positive cases, 929 active positive, 3,135 recovered, 45 deaths and Kishtwar has 3,692 positive cases, 460 active positive, 3,205 recovered, 27 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 60,057 positive cases, 21,149 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
