Work on Gajaysingh Pura road taken up, 100 meters stretch left untouched
ET NEWS CHANGES PWD’S ‘MOOD’
6/6/2021 11:50:31 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, June 6: The Public Works (R&B) Department today changed its mood when Early Times carried a news report, and reportedly today started blacktopping works on Gajaysingh Pura road, but still a stretch on the road has not been touched or deliberately dropped by the department. “We thank Early Times for timely highlighting the issue of apparent misappropriation of funds, the department today started works on a 300 meter stretch out of a total length of 400 meters. The issue raised by locals has made the department angry, so just to keep the ego, they have left a 100 meters long stretch on the road”, said locals of Gajaysingh Pura. They said yesterday the AEE PWD Sub Division had a different version and today they acted totally different. “Yesterday the AEE was saying machinery cannot pass through the locality. The road is very narrow and today he pressed the same paver machine in the area. It clearly shows the department’s intention of leaving untouched the road despite work orders”, they said. The local said that the both anti-graft agencies of J&K, i.e. the Crime Branch and the ACB should cross check documents related to tenders invited by PWD and the works executed on the ground, a random exercise by these agencies would certainly give results.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), Sub Division Marh, Shamas-u-din today told a different story than he claimed yesterday. “We have started works, on the road, and remaining on the 100 meters stretch, will be done manually”, he added. It is pertinent to mention here that yesterday the AEE gave many reasons for not black topping the road, saying the area is very narrow, machines could not pass through it, handover and takeover of some road was going between the PWD and JMC authorities, etc.
