International Yoga Day celebrated across Jammu region

JAMMU, June 21: As part of International Yoga Day functions were held across the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir today. An initiative was taken by NCCHWO in all the states to encourage Yog and physical fitness amongst the members of the society.
In J&K, an initiative was taken by Pooja Malhotra, President National Women Empowerment Cell, to conduct a Yog Session, under expert guidance of SIBA events & Entertainment Group and Inner Wheel Club, Jammu Tawi. During this one hour session, services of a professionally trained Instructor were taken to teach correct Yog/ Pranayam techniques and conduct of a Zumba Session.
Department of Swasthavritta and yoga Government Ayurvedic Medical college Akhnoor today celebrated 7th International Yoga Day in Virtual Mode. During the event Faculty, students attended live yoga Session and performed different Asans and Pranayam. During the program Dhanwantri Vandana and results of Week long yoga week celebration Activities were also announced.The whole event was organised under the Guidance of Principal mam.
Nehru Yuva Kendra Jammu organized 7th International day of Yoga with great zeal and gaiety in all 20 blocks of district Jammu and 7 blocks of District Samba. Over 14300 persons participated in week long massive campaign to mobilize and motivate youth and community to actively participate in International Yoga day on 21 June. Various online and offline activities organized, Yoga classes, Yoga Training, virtual yoga classes, posters making, door to door campaign to motivate masses to adopt yoga as way of life to remain healthy to make Fit india’ More than 450 virtual, online and offline program were organized during this week.
In Collaboration with Debates and Seminar Committee, NSS/NCC Units of Government Degree College Banihal (J&K) under the ambit of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav celebrated the 7th International Day of Yoga,2021 with theme, Be with Yoga, Be at Home by organising a Two Days Online National Workshop on Yoga held on 20th and 21st of June,2021.The Patron, Dr. Manohar Lal, Principal of the College inaugurated the workshop by welcoming the resource persons and highlighting the utility of Yoga in keeping us stress free in today’s fast paced world.
Government Degree College Dudu BasantGarh Organized an Inter -College Slogan writing competition on the occasion of International Yoga day which is celebrate on 21 June every year. Through this competition students share their ideas regarding the importance of Yoga through Slogan writing. The Competition took place under the supervision and guidance of Worthy Principal GDC Dudu Basantgarh Dr. Bhavnaish Chand. Organizing secretary Prof. Rahul Sharma and competition coordinator Prof. Pradeep Kumar took the initiative and gave the chance to the students to participate online events.
To commemorate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (75 years of India’s Independence) and to celebrate 7th International Yoga Day- 2021, the NSS Unit and NCC, Naval Wing of GDC Doda organized Yoga contest and webinar under the guidance and patronage of Dr. Shafqat Husssain Rafiqi, Principal of the college. He lauded the efforts of students who participated in these activities and also, encouraged them to perform yoga asanas at home to overcome the challenges posed by covid-19 pandemic.
NSS unit of Govt. College of Education, (GCOE) Jammu under the patronage of the Cluster University of Jammu organized an online Intra-College Videography and Essay Writing Competition celebrating International Yoga Day to commemorate Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav on 21st June, 2021. When the whole world has been suffering from the pandemic, Yoga is giving rays of hope to stay relaxed and fit to the people. Keeping in mind the prevailing conditions, the Program was ably conducted by Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, NSS Programme Officer along with NSS volunteers.
Government Degree College Khour organized an event to observe the 7th International Yoga Day. During the event Principal, staff (teaching & non-teaching) and students of the College performed various yogic activities like Yoga Asanas and Pranayam. The event was organized under the guidance of Principal of the College Prof. Hans Raj. He emphasized the importance of yoga in the present era of Covid-19 to improve and maintain physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing and advised the participants to make Yoga as an integral part of their life.
To make the International Yoga Day a memorable occasion and keeping the spirit of Vanmahotsav alive, a tree plantation drive was undertaken at Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo, Jammu led by Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Jammu, KK Sharma.
Director Agriculture during the tree plantation reiterated that the global warming and climate change are no longer abstract concepts and that the tree plantation drive serves as a climate change mitigation movement for our well being. The participants on the occasion pleaded that 10000 fruit bearing, ornamental and forest trees will be planted all over the Jammu Division under “Go Green Plantation Drive”.
Highlighting the importance of Yoga, Director said that through physical and mental discipline, Yoga helps to achieve a peaceful body and mind and facilitates managing stress and anxiety. Yoga is the best thing to adopt as a lifestyle habit to survive through this lockdown & pandemic period, He said.
Others who participated in the plantation drive included Joint Director (Farms), Rajinder Sharma, Joint Director (Mushroom & Apiculture), Iqbal Singh, Joint Director (Marketing), Rajan Sharma, Agronomist Vegetable, JC Raina, DD (Training), Anil Bakshi, DD (Planning), Rishi Gupta, Agriculture Chemist, Rajeev Verma, Agriculture Economist, Vivek Kohli besides other senior officers of the Directorate of Agriculture Jammu.
GDC Udhampur in collaboration with Patanjali Pariwar J&K chapter organized a webinar on International Yoga Day 2021 to mark the significance of this Day. The NSS Unit of the college organized this event in which approximately 200 participants joined it from various organizations and institutions all over the State. Bansi Lal, State Coordinator, Bharat Swabhiman Trust briefed the participants about the immense need of yoga especially in the pandemic times to build immunity and inner strength.
Aadarsh Bhartiya Samaj a Social Organisation working to promote Education, Environment, Health and Nationhood among the general masses and students’ community in particular observed ‘International Yoga Day’. Members performed Yoga at home. Yoga in the way of science has all tools and techniques which heals our body, mind and soul.
International Yoga Day was celebrated by the students and teachers at Delhi Public School Udhampur with great enthusiasm. Students from grade IX to XII demonstrated various asanas followed by Omkar chanting.
Warm up exercises were taken and all the students performed sitting and standing asanas under the guidance of Patanjali certified Yog Guru Bansi Lal.
