Residents of Wards 47, 48 hold protest against scarcity of water

JAMMU, June 21: A protest demonstration by the residents of Ward No 47 and 48 Bahu Fort Jammu was held at Central Boria Pumping Station, Kalika Colony Bahu Fort, Jammu. The protest was staged regarding scarcity of drinking water, increasing of water supply hours in Bahu Fort area, provision of additional motor for Bahu Fort and Repair/ construction of overhead tank at old Bahu Fort, Jammu. While speaking on this occasion, Sham Lal Basson, Corporator Ward No 48 said that there is acute shortage of drinking water in Bahu Fort area, water is supplied with low pressure in unscheduled manner. Sharda Devi, Corporator Ward No 47, Bahadur Lal president Saryara Sabha Bahu Fort, Jammu and DD Mehra president Mohalla Welfare Committee JDA Colony, Bahu Fort, Jammu and Dewan Chand, ward president also presented their view points regarding shortage of drinking water. The Covid 19 guidelines were followed during protest demonstration. People from more than 15 mohallas of Bahu Fort participated in the protest. The protesters locked the main gate of plant.. The officers of Jal Shakti Deptt agreed to almost all the issues raised by the protesters. They agreed not to reduce water supply hours. They also agreed to implement the project to give daily supply and replacement of old damaged pipes under new project.
