Complete desilting of nallah before monsoon: PHSC Chairman
6/21/2021 11:37:51 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, June 21: Chairman Public Health & Sanitation Committee (PHSC) of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Narinder Singh Jamwal today visited Nanak Nagar area where he reviewed the ongoing de-silting work of nallah. He directed the Chief Transport Officer of JMC to ensure that the work of de-silting gets completed before the upcoming Monsoon season so that the people of the area do not face any problem due to blockade of the Nallah.
The PHSC Chairman regretted that the people residing in the areas immediately adjoining the nallah have turned it into a garbage dump by throwing all sorts of wastage from their houses into it. He said that such elements just to avoid payment of user charges for proper disposal of garbage from houses through the established system of JMC are not creating problem only for the people of the whole area but are even putting their own health at risk.
Jamwal made a fervent appeal to the people of Nanak Nagar area not to dump garbage in the Nallah and instead hand it over to the men of JMC who collect household garbage going from door to door regularly.
Reiterating that the Civic body is committed to work relentlessly for making the City of Temples ‘Clean and Green’ the PHSC Chairman of Jammu Municipal Corporation sought cooperation of the people and asserted that this would be possible only when people come forward wholeheartedly for proactive participation in the endeavours of JMC towards maintaining cleanliness across the City.
