World Tourism Day celebrations commences at CUJ

JAMMU, Sept 26: Department of Tourism and Travel Management, Central University of Jammu (CUJ) celebrated today Travelism-2021 marking the celebration of World Tourism Day. Travelism- 2021, a two-day long online event commenced the celebrations of World Tourism Day falling on 27th September. The event was organized on the theme "Tourism for Inclusive Growth", the theme for 2021 as announced by United Nations World Tourism Organization.
Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor of the university, was the Chief Guest of the event. The keynote speakers of the event were Surbhi Dadheechi and Jeevan Lal Verma. Surbhi Dadheechi is presently Chairperson- Senior Women Cricket Selection Committee J&K, BCCI . Besides she has 13 years experience in the travel trade as she worked with companies like Thomas Cook and Make my Trip. Jeevan Lal Verma, a Global Rattan Awardee, is Director of an organisation termed ROSE -Rural Organisation for Social Elevation.
In his presidential address Prof Aima emphasised on the Inclusive growth of everyone and tourism as a tool to achieve it. He further expressed his concern that the pandemic has affected adversely all to varied extent and there is a need of serious efforts at all fronts to revive the viability of the tourism industry.
Addressing the audience online, Surbhi Dadheechi emphasized on "Fit India Hit India"; What it takes to be Successful Professional and Sportsperson. During the event other eminent speake,r Jeevan Lal Verma presented his views on the topic Rural Opportunity on Social Elevation (ROSE).
All the dignitaries and participants were welcomed by Dr Bharti Gupta, Coordinator of the Department. Prof Jaya Basin presented the theme of World Tourism Day. Dr Ranjeet Kumar Raman presented vote of thanks. The proceedings were carried by Dr Amit Gangotia. The event was attended by faculty of School of Business Studies, Students, scholars and other stake holders.
