GGM Science College celebrates NSS Foundation Day

JAMMU, Sept 26: In connection with the NSS Foundation day, NSS Unit 1 of GGM Science College Jammu organized an extension lecture to sensitize the students to raise awareness about the importance of NSS day and to inspire positive approach towards the duty of NSS volunteers. The webinar was organized under the guidance of Principal Dr Ravender Tickoo, and supervision of Dr Narinder Kumar NSS PO, on the theme 'Not Me But You 2021'.
Dr AM Raza, a well known volunteer, educationist and former Director of Research Institute at Eritrea was the main resource person on the occasion. In his lecture, Dr Malik threw a detailed light on the history, importance of NSS day and steps to be taken to adopt the NSS motto "Not Me but You" which represents the spirit of democratic living and emphasizes the need for selfless service.
Earlier, NSS PO Dr Narinder Kumar in his welcome address gave a brief introduction on why do NSS day is celebrated. He advocated the main objectives of NSS are to understand themselves in relation to their community, to identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process, to develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
At the end of the programme, a large number of NSS volunteers, and students who had joined the webinar from different colleges of Jammu and Kashmir UT, took a pledge as volunteers. Tajesvani, Pooja and Surbi also spoke on the occasion.
The webinar ended with a special vote of thanks by the NSS PO. Technical support in organizing the webinar was provided by Seemab and Karan.
