Early Times Report

REASI, Sept 28: In a special session of the weekly online grievance redress programme series ‘Reasi BEEPS Beat The Pandemic’, Deputy Commissioner, Charandeep Singh today interacted with specially abled persons of the district. This interaction was held as part of the recently launched MADAD (Maintenance of Differently Abled) initiative.
At the outset, Charandeep Singh talked about the MADAD initiative of the district administration dedicated towards welfare of Specially Abled Persons. He highlighted that the phrase ‘specially abled’ itself signifies that there is something special about the persons with disability. In the present atmosphere, specially abled persons are excelling in every field be it education, sports, art and literature. They possess some inherent talent, skill that if nurtured could help them excel in life. This has also been proved in the recently concluded Tokyo Paralympics where Indian paralympians have made the country proud by giving a historic performance.
He further informed that a fresh door-to-door survey to assess the current status of Specially Abled Persons & their specific requirements would be shortly conducted in the district. The survey will lead to creation of a database of the needs, skills and problems being faced by specially abled persons and help district administration in making planned interventions in the matter. He assured that the district administration as a team will work towards alleviating any issues being faced by the specally abled, and that he himself will be accessible to them. While talking to the Deputy Commissioner, a caller Mohammad Rafiq from Judda, Arnas thanked the district administration for providing financial assistance and customized scooter from Social Welfare Department.
Farooq Ahmad, Reva Kumari, Rekha Sharma, Dev Parihar, Sheela Devi were among several other callers who apprised the Deputy Commissioner about their grievances.
District Social Welfare Officer, Gulshan Kumar, coordinated this virtual interaction.
