Mega Airshow in Kashmir, nukkad shows in Jammu!
Winter capital awaits Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav big celebrations
9/29/2021 12:19:06 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 28: While Jammu has been known for its nationalist sentiment, the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav seems to be holding mega celebrations in Kashmir.
The people of Jammu have been accusing the administration of the Union Territory of allegedly “neglecting Jammu even for the celebrations of the nationalist activities.”
The people of Jammu, who have been braving the anti-national activities in Kashmir for the last over three decades, alleged that no major event of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was held in Jammu as compared to Kashmir where numerous big events have been held in the last around a year. In the latest, the Indian Air Force held the mega air show over the famous Dal Lake here on September 26 to help motivate the youth of Kashmir to join the IAF.
As per officials, more than 3,000 schoolchildren and college students attended the show. To inspire Kashmir youth, the event was titled 'Give Wings to Your Dreams.’
Previously boat rallies were also in the famed Dal lake in connection with the same Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav while mega concerts were also held. The VIPs, including the Lieutenant Governor and his Advisors, have been attending such mega events in Kashmir. But then what about Jammu? And what about the aspirations of the youth of Jammu? Such questions have been doing the rounds in public circles who believe that no such major events of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav were held in Jammu. “The irony is that Jammu continues to be kept behind even in holding the nationalist events that too when this region in general and the City of Temples in particular has been iconic for the nationalist values,” said an official on the condition of anonymity.
He said only “small cultural events in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav are held in Jammu.”
“Most such events are like cultural shows of school level, block level or village in Jammu whereas the mega celebrations in Kashmir grab the eyeballs,” he said.
The government has been claiming that it was working with transparency to end seven decades of the “discrimination with Jammu at the hands of Kashmir based dynasts”.
