Tajinder urges Union Govt to extend free ration scheme | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 7: Renowned social and political activist Tajinder Singh urged central government to extend the free ration under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKAY-3) beyond November 30. He said recently government declared snowfall and hail storm as the natural calamity in Jammu and Kashmir UT that devastated hundreds of families in Jammu and Kashmir but on other hand they are stopping free ration under PMGKAY. "From the past several years, the agriculture and it's allied industry in the Jammu and Kashmir UT suffered massive blow following the climatic conditions. This year too snowfall and hail storm damaged the Paddy fields in Jammu and Apple Orchards in Kashmir," Tajinder said. Singh said if govt declared snowfall and hail storm as natural disaster in Jammu and Kashmir then it is not proper time to stop the ration. Tajinder urged Central government to revert its decision and provide free ration to people in view of pandemic and economic conditions. Tajinder said the government's decision to discontinue the free ration will be a setback to hundreds of poor families, who are still struggling due to COVID-19 pandemic and natural calamities. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi led centre government should review the decision and so that poor people will not suffer anymore in the pandemic," Tajinder said. |
