BJP discusses J&K in national executive meeting | Wants to form next Govt in UT, with aim to install first party Chief Minister | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 7: After the abrogation of Article 35-A and modification in Article 370 of the Indian constitution, J&K is still a focus area for BJP. During its national executive meeting, the party held detailed discussions on Jammu and Kashmir and devised future strategies for the newly carved Union Territory. During the national executive meeting, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman informed about discussions held on Jammu and Kashmir. The Union Finance Minister said, “We also discussed how after the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the Block Development Councils and District Development Council elections were conducted and how people are willing to come out to participate in democratic processes.” “A statistic I’d like to highlight is the Industry Promotion Scheme worth Rs 28,400 crore, which was launched in Jan 2021, for Jammu and Kashmir. 54 projects worth Rs 56,201 crore have also been launched. Today, because of the Jan Aushadhi Yojana, affordable medicines are being made available to the poor and middle class. Also, over 75,000 health and wellness centres have been set up,” the Finance Minister said. Sources in the BJP said that the central leadership of BJP is working assiduously to form its government in J&K to create a history. Buoyed over the joining of some potential politicians in the party fold, BJP high-command is working on a formula to emerge as the single largest party in the coming assembly elections in J&K to install a first-party chief minister in the UT. During his recent visit to J&K, Union Home Minister, Amit Shah has made it clear that the party will fight assembly elections to install its chief minister. |
