JAMMU, Nov 7: Shri Madan Lal Sharma Charitable Trust held its monthly meeting at village Jogwan of tehsil Khour. The meeting was chaired by the chairperson of the trust Satish Sharma. Meeting was attended by hundreds of members of the trust. In the meeting focus was given on the trust's programme of public outreach and helping the needy people of the society like widows, orphaned children, poor people etc. The people present in the meeting shared their views concerning the problems in the society. The people expressed dissatisfaction on the conduct of administration regarding the issue of compensation of damaged crops to the farmers.
They said that the people are worried about their future as they are not getting any financial assistance from administration and they don't even have resources to cultivate their next crop. The people of Kandi belt said that administration is only planning to give financial assistance for the loss of paddy crops but are not thinking about the farmers of Kandi belt whose crops also got destroyed.
Speaking on the occasion, Satish Sharma said that he is very much concerned about the problems of the farmers as being from an agriculture background he is himself facing the same problem and was badly affected by the disastrous rain and hailstorm that happened few days back. He said that he has raised the demands of the people before the concerned officers and included five main points in it, which are compensation of Rs 5000 per kanal for destroyed crops, waiving off KCC loans of 6 months, providing seeds and fertilizers for the next crops, free ration to the affected families for next 6 months and waiver in electricity bill of last 6 months. He added that administration should work for fulfillment of their demands or be ready to face the anger of the farmers. Further talking about the activities of the trust he said that with the help of the people Shri Madan Lal Sharma Trust will continue doing the work of social welfare. During the meeting financial aid was given to few needy women of the area namely Nisha Devi, Vidya Devi, Pooja Devi and Jyoti Devi.
