NABARD organizes meeting of Regional Advisory Committee on Off Farm Sector

Jammu, Nov 15: The first meeting of the Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) for the Off Farm Sector of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh was organized by NABARD, Jammu Regional Office on 15th November 2021 at the Conference Hall.
Dr. Ajay Kumar Sood, Chief General Manger, presided over the meeting. The committee included A K Razdan, State Director, RESTI, Mahesh Verma, Joint Director- Department of Agriculture, Megha Baogia, Deputy Director (Planning), Department of Handloom and Handicrafts, and representatives from JKRLM, UTLBC, NGO partners and banks- J&K bank, JKGB and JCCB as members. The meeting was held to analyse the scope of Off Farm Sector in the UT, identify activities in Off Farm Sector for intensive development, explore areas of convergence in the developmental activities being undertaken by NABARD. Anamika, DGM, NABARD welcomed all the participants present in the meeting.
Dr. A K Sood, CGM, NABARD gave the keynote address and outlined the objectives of the meeting. He indicated that there is immense potential in the Off Farm Sector in the UT which will supplement the farm income of rural household. Surender Singh, General Manager, NABARD gave a brief overview of NABARD’s interventions in the Off farm sector in the UT and called upon the participants to deliberate on issues relating to the sector. The house was then addressed by A K Razdan, State Director, who shared his views with the house.
Thereafter a detailed presentation was made by Anamika, DGM on the objectives and expectations from the RAC meeting, scenario of Off Farm Sector in the State, schemes of NABARD and future roadmap for development of the sector. Megha Baogia, Deputy Director (Planning), Department of Handloom and Handicrafts also gave a presentation on the different schemes of the J&K Govt. for the handloom and handicrafts sector.
During the course of deliberations, valuable inputs were given by the participants. Some unique products were also identified to be taken up for GI Registration in the next phase. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the Chair and participants by Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, AGM, NABARD.
