Jammu, Nov 15: Jammu and Kashmir Excise Department on Monday destroyed 700-kg Lahan in a surprise raids in Kathua district. An official said that Excise Department has destroyed 700 Kgs of Lahan during different raids carried out to check the menace of illicit distillation and sale of illicit liquor in Excise Range Kathua. On the directions of the Excise Commissioner, Kishore Singh Chib and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Kusum Sharma, a team of Excise Range Kathua led by ETO, Excise Range Kathua Virender Kumar raided the Jakh Barh Dambra, Padyari and Chack Drab Khan areas of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.\ In the process 700 Kgs of Lahan, raw material of illicit liquor which is highly hazardous and injurious to health was recovered by the raiding team from state land and later destroyed on the spot.
