Divisional Commissioner hold meetings in Poonch & Surankote
Interacts with DDCs, BDCs and PRIs; participates in JanJatiya Gaurav Divas

POONCH, Nov 15: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer today reached Poonch as part of his two day visit to the Border District.
In the morning, he interacted with elected representatives of the District Development Council in presence of Chairperson, Vice Chairman, Deputy Commissioner, Members of DD Councils, PRIs and District /Sectoral officers.
The elected representatives put forth several demands and sought early completion of Mini Secretariat buildings at Poonch and Mendhar, creation of post of ADC, ASP & additional session Court in Mendhar sub division and various other important issues with regard to RDD, PHE, PDD, Irrigation and flood control etc were also raised on the occasion.
The Div Com, while interacting with the Public Representatives, said that the motive of such interactions is to build an interface so that the Public representatives and Officers work in synergy and minimize the gaps in Governance. He directed the Officers of Line Departments to hold regular awareness camps and work with full zeal for the smooth and efficient functioning of Panchayats to achieve the grassroots level development.
The Divisional Commissioner assured the District Council and Chairpersons of the Block Development Councils that all their genuine issues shall be resolved in a time bound manner.
Later, the Divisional Commissioner along with the BDCs, DDCs, Deputy Commissioner and District Officers participate in “ Jan Jatiya Gaurav Divas” which is being celebrated in the memory of tribal freedom fighter, Birsa Munda, who made great sacrifices for the country.
In the programme, the dignitaries provided cheques to the beneficiaries of various Govt. schemes like PMAY, Scholarship, assistance from BOCWWB (Labour department),Forest Rights Act etc.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Langer highlighted various government initiatives that are being undertaken for the welfare of Tribal population. He appreciated the District Administration headed by DC Inder Jeet for working tirelessly for the welfare of the people.
Later in the day, the Div Com held detailed meeting with PRI members in Dak Banglow Surankote and listened to the grievances of public. He assured for consideration of the genuine demands as per norms. PRI members representing Surankote, Bafliaz, Balakote, Bhata Durrian, Mendhar and other far flung areas met the Div Com and apprised him of the local issues.
