Amit conducts surprise inspection checks in ARI & Trainings Offices

Jammu, May 25, Amit Sharma, Secretary to Government, Administrative Reforms, Inspections and Trainings Department today conducted surprise check visits in the Office of Assistant Director, Stationery and Office Supplies, Jammu District and Ranbir Government Press, Jammu. He was accompanied by Sunaina Sharma, Additional Secretary during the visits. A need was felt to conduct surprise checks as the Administrative Department was getting regular feedback regarding irregular attendance issues in few offices falling under the administrative control of ARI & Trainings Department and otherwise also, this is a basic mandate of this department to conduct Inspections amongst all departments of the Government of Union Territory.
During the surprise visit, Administrative Secretary Amit Sharma checked the records and took an inspection round of the entire complex of AD, Stationery & Office Supplies Department including its stores and directed all the employees of the department to work with zeal and enthusiasm. While taking employees feedback, the officials of the department expressed anxiety about their future due to the Policy Decision taken for winding-up this department and more importantly, they complained that during the last DPC, a lot of employees from the Jammu division got ignored due to which there is a lot of demotivation amongst them. Secretary Amit Sharma immediately directed Additional Secretary to enquire into the matter after seeking a report on the same from DG, Stationery & Office Supplies, J&K in the matter and submission of a final report on it within a week's time.
In the second phase, Secretary Amit Sharma inspected Ranbir Government Press especially to find out the quality of hygiene and Fire Safety measures inside the premises. GM Jammu Press Purshotam Sharma and other staffers of the Press accompanied him wherein Secretary visited all sections of the Press and took stock of the quality of cleanliness, hygiene and fire safety measures taken inside the premises. GM Press informed the Secretary that a mock fire safety drill was conducted inside the premises yesterday only and all necessary measures have been taken for it. Secretary Amit Sharma appreciated the cleanliness measures taken here after his last visit and further directed that an Emergency Exit must be provisioned in this old Complex which is a heritage building adjacent to Amphalla Jail, Jammu and all necessary measures must be taken to preserve this building and ensuring safety of the employees working here.
Before culmination of the twin visits, Amit Sharma Secretary ARI & Trainings Department mentioned that the department is working aggressively to revive its pristine glory and surprise inspection checks and visits shall be routine affair in future including preparation of an Annual Inspections Calendar for all Departments so as to ensure that all officers and officials working in various Government Offices perform their duties in an efficient and disciplined manner in time to come. But at the same time, he assured that all the grievances of field departmental employees shall be addressed on top priority so that there is no dissatisfaction amongst them while performing their official duties.
