8th International Yoga Day Celebrated by AIIMS Vijaypur

JAMMU, June 16: AIIMS Vijaypur, Jammu celebrated the 8th International day of Yoga on Thursday "Yoga for Humanity" as a part of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' campaign to commemorate 75 years of Independence. The event was started with welcome speech by Dr. Sanjolly Gupta, & lighting of lamp by Chief Guest Jugal Kishore Sharma, Hon'ble Member of Parliament, Jammu Lok Sabha, Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta, the First Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu and other dignitaries. Then celebrations were commenced with Saraswati Vandana, invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. The word of wisdom of Yoga was delivered by the Hon'ble Chief Guest Shri Jugal Kishore Sharma. He shared his experience & wisdom about his decade's long Yoga practice. Then Common Yoga Protocol session was held with the enthusiastic participation of faculty/administrative staff, MBBS students (1st & 2nd Batch), and other staff under supervision of Dr. Ranjana and Dr. Shambu Ram, Assistant Professors, Yoga & Naturopathy Department, Central University of Jammu at the makeshift campus located at NITS, Polytechnic, Miran Sahib India Nagar, Jammu from 6:30 am to 08:00 am. The Chief Guest and Director & CEO, AIIMS, along with other participants, actively participated in practice session. The event was attended by faculty/administrative staff, students, and other staff.
Dhanantar Singh, President and K.K. Rana, Vice President, Bharatiya Yog Sansthan Jammu and his team imparted the best Yoga demonstration to all participants during the Common Yoga Protocol session.
Celebrations were continued with felicitation of Chief Guest by Director, Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta AIIMS Jammu. Yoga experts were also felicitated by the Hon'ble Chief Guest followed by distribution of refreshment among participants.
