Govt GLDM College organises fifth online lecture of manthan

JAMMU, July 10: Department of Music Govt. GLDM Degree College Hiranagar organised fifth online lecture under the series named "Manthan". Manthan is an online lecture series from Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari organised under the aegis of Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav @75. The lecture was on the topic Khayal ki Bandishon ke Vividh Paksh. The resource person for the lecture was Pandit Devendra Verma a senior musician from Gwalior Gharana.
The Chief Guest of the programme was Prof. V N Sharma, Pro-Chancellor of Arunodaya University Arunachal Pradesh. He in his address described the series as a great idea to discuss on the issues pertaining to music every week. He wished the idea a great success and also summarised the ideas of 12th chapter of Bhagwad Gita.
The resource person of the programme elaborated the literature of the bandish system of music. He said that the literature in Raga Sangeet is an important factor for the information and dissemination of the exact message of this art. He also demonstrated few ragas by his live performance such as Raga Yaman, Raga Mian ki Malhar, Raga Bhimplasi, Raga Bihag and Raga Rageshiri which includes different types of bandishes in different talas. At the end the resource also agreed to conduct few offline Physical workshops in the college.
The lecture began with welcome address by Dr. Bharat Bhushan who also handled the proceedings and vote of thanks of the programme. Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Head, Department of Music in his address a compiled book of all the lectures and the related articles will be published after the completion of the series. The work and initiative would strengthen the institution at large and will also depict the idea, approach and philosophy of the worthy principal Prof. (Dr.) Pragya Khanna.
The webinar was attended by the students, teachers and music lovers from across the nation. Many participants discussed and shared their views about the series. Those who attended the lecture were Prof. Renu Sehgal from G.C.W. Gandhi Nagar College, Prof. Seema Sharma, Dr. Sanjay Kalotra, Dr. Shallu Jasrotia, Prof. Yash Kumar from G.C.W. Udhampur College, Prof. Lawanaya Kirti Singh from Bihar, Sangeeta Panda from Orissa, Satish Bohra from Jodhpur, Sanjay Prakash Bhardwaj from Sangeet Natak Acadamy new Delhi, Dr. Nishtha Sharma, Prof. Asha Rani, Govt. MAM College, Dr. Surinder Kumar, Dr. Davinder Kour, Prof. Neha Bhagat, Prof. Jyoti Rani, Prof. Kamlesh Bala, Dr. Arun Kumar, Vikram Jamwal, Mukesh Kumar and many more. The programme was organised together with Department of Sociology and the Department of Physical Education and Sports in consultation and support of Prof. (Dr.) Pragya Khanna, Principal of the college.
