Early Times Report JAMMU, July 16: First aid is the first and immediate assistance given to any person with either a minor or serious illness or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, or to promote recovery. It includes initial intervention in a serious condition prior to professional medical help being available, while waiting for an ambulance, as well as the complete treatment of minor conditions. Likewise Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region organized a 4 days First-Aid Training Programme for the employees of Uflex Ltd. Unit No. II, Bari Brahmana, District Samba, Commercial Vehicle Drivers and Red Cross Volunteers. The batch started w.e.f 13th July, 2022 to 16th July, 2022. The session was started with the formal introduction of participants with Sh. Sat Pal Sharma, Hony. Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region where he welcomed all the participants and commended the Doctors for rendering humanitarian services to the people in distress. Theoretical and practical knowledge was delivered/ demonstrated by Dr. Kavita Nijhon Verma, Medical Officer, Dr. Aasia Noor and Smt. Kanchan Devi, Sup. Pharmacist along with Vironica Marwah, Field Officer, IRCS, Jammu Region. During the 4-days training course, participants were apprised of the various techniques of Disaster Management during Earthquakes, Fires, Floods, famine, basic safety equipment use, incident management. Practical demonstration covered critical skills such as how to appropriately treat someone who is bleeding, choking, or suffering from shock, Cardio pulmonary Resuscitation, ways to deal with life threatening conditions such as seizures, unconsciousness, or a non-breathing casualty. In addition, employees were shown how to handle a situation where the casualty is having a heart attack, anaphylaxis, asthma, or cardiac arrest.
