Reasi, July 17: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) celebrated the 94th Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) foundation here at KVK, Reasi campus which was enthuastically attended by a large number of farmers’ of the area.
The programme was organised under the dynamic stewardship of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof.JP Sharma and able guidance of Director Extension Prof.SK Gupta of SKUAST-Jammu. The live webcast from the ICAR,New Delhi was shown to the farmers during which the Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Narinder Singh Tomar, Hon’ble Union Cabinet Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Darying, Sh.Parshottam Rupala and Hon’ble Min. of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Sh.Kailash Chaudhary alongwith Hon’ble DG ICAR,Dr.Trilochan Mohapatra inaugurated the 94th Foundation Day at NASC Complex New Delhi.Hon’ble DDG Extension,Dr.AK Singh addressed the gathering during the event. The dignitaries virtually interacted with the farmers and stressed on natural farming, innovative technologies, climate resilient agriculture and FPOs formation. The dignitaries also released the 75000 success stories of the farmers across the nation. Earlier Sr.Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal started the programme with the warm welcome of the farmers. While speaking on the occasion he highlighted the achievements of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for the growth and development of the farmers in the country and abroad.
He informed the farmers that the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is an autonomous organisation under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
He said that the ICAR is one of the largest national agricultural systems in the world with its spread across the nation. He narrated that the ICAR with its strenuous efforts helped to provide the self-sufficiency in food grains and nutritional security in India. He educated the farmers about the agricultural research, education and technologies developed by the ICAR and its institutions. He also informed the farmers that presently the ICAR has established 731 KVKs across the nation and these KVKs are mitigating the scientific agricultural needs of the farmers and are helping in human resource development in agriculture and allied sectors through trainings. Dr.Arvinder Kumar said that the ICAR has played a pioneering role in ushering Green Revolution and subsequent agricultural developments and research across the country. He also said that the ICAR plays a significant role in promoting excellence in higher education in agriculture. Dr.Lobzang Stanzen spoke in detail on weather forecasting and urged farmers to avail the benefits of Distt.Agro-metrological Unit(DAMU) established at KVK,Reasi.
During the programme many awardee/progressive farmers of the area were present who also visited the KVK crop cafeteria and various units established at KVK,Reasi. During the programme an exhibition stall was also arranged for the farmers. In this programme many quarries were raised by the farmers which KVK scientists answered in a very satisfactorily way.
The programme was also attended by Sarpach, Sh.Sukhdev Singh,Naib Sarpach,Sh.Rattan Lal and many panches of the area. The programme was assisted by Sh. Manohar Lal, Ms.Preeti Chaudhary, Sh.Sanjay Sharma and Sh.Mohd.Iqbal and concluded by Dr.Lobzang Stanzen with formal vote of thanks
