8 killed, 3 injured in Kishtwar accident

Kishtwar, Aug 30: Eight people were killed and 3 others sustained injuries, two of them critically after the Tata Sumo in which they were traveling met with an accident near Bonda village in Chatroo sub division in this frontier district on Tuesday.
According to details available with Early Times the driver of the ill fated vehicle bearing (No. JK17-9117) lost control over his vehicle as a result of which it skided off the road and fell into a 400/500 feet deep gorge.
As soon as the news of the accident reached the authorities, rescue team led by SHO Chatroo Parvaiz Ahmed along with 11 RR and locals launched the rescue operation to retrieve the dead bodies. Soon SSP Kishtwar Shafqat Hussain Butt, SDM Chatroo Inderjeet Singh Parihar, BDO Inderwal Tasleem Wani also rushed to the spot and joined the locals, army and police in retrieving and shifting the bodies.
Official sources said that 5 people died on the spot while two people died at PHC Chatroo and a minor girl died while on way to District Hospital Kishtwar.
Locals informed that the road blockade caused due to ongoing NH 244 became the cause for the death of the minor girl who got stuck in an ambulance due to road construction work.
The deceased were identified as Nusrata Banoo (16 yrs) D/o Fareed Ahmed, Shareef (25 yrs) S/o Gh Hussain, Fareed (25 yrs) S/o Noor Deen, Mohd Akbar (28 Yrs) S/o Noor Deen, Fareed Hussain (25 Yrs) s/o Ab Kareem, Bashir Ahmed (35Yrs) s/o Akbar Hussain, Nazir (25 yrs) S/o Akbar & Noor Hussain (35 yrs) S/o Ab Kareem all R/o Boonda.
The injured were identified as Manzoor Ahmed (25 Yrs) s/o Ab Gaffar, Khatoon Begum (45 yrs) W/o Fareed Ahmed & Akhter Hussain (30 yrs) S/o Mangu all R/o of Boonda.
