Irony! Pak records highest-ever inflation in decades, tyrants take refuge in Geelani
One-seventh population of Pak on verge of starvation due to unprecedented price rise amid devastating floods

Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 3: One-seventh of Pakistan’s population is on the verge of starvation due to devasting floods in which nearly 2000 people, as per official figures, have lost their lives.
Due to devastating floods prices of essential commodities have been touching the sky but the inhuman rulers of Pakistan are protesting to observe the first death anniversary of Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
According to reports in Pakistani media, a large number of flood-stricken people from Sindh’s Kandh Kot, Thul, Garhi Khairo, and other parts have started arriving in Balochistan to escape the devastating floods. Since most parts of interior Sindh are flooded, a large number of flood-affected people fled to the safety of Dera Murad Jamali and other parts of Naseerabad division.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Friday stated that the inflation measured by the Sensitive Price Index (SPI) rose steeply in the previous week climbing to a record 45.5 percent year-on-year in September, the highest level in a decade.
PBS stated that the SPI-based inflation rate jumped to 1.31 percent during the previous week compared to last week, due to a surge in prices of vegetables, as the country faces the brunt of the catastrophic floods which have affected over 33 million lives.
It was also the third consecutive week that the inflation rate constantly increased, largely due to supply chain disruption amid floods that have sent the price of essential goods skyrocketing.
The latest data showed that the average prices of 31 items essential items, onions, tomatoes, eggs, and other items rose during the outgoing week.
The report said that the increase was observed in the prices of food items including onions at 42.17 percent, tomatoes at 13.25 percent, pulse moong (Washed) at 7.94 percent, potatoes 6.97 percent, Eggs 3.84 percent, Chicken 3.25 percent, Wheat flour at 1.49 percent.
