NC prefers Jaffar Akhoon over Feroz as new CEC of Kargil

Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 17: The ruling National Conference on Tuesday sprang a surprise by electing Dr. Mohammad Jaffar Akhoon as the new Chairman-cum-Chief Executive Councillor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development (LAHDC) Kargil in place of the incumbent Feroz Ahmad Khan who was serving on this important post for the last five years. Although outgoing Chairman-cum-CEC Feroz Ahmad Khan has comfortably won elections as councillor from Simloo constituency the party preferred Dr. Mohammad Jaffar Akhoon in his place. Akhoon has won the election from the Thasgam Thunia seat. Sources said that the decision of the National Conference leadership to replace Farooq Ahmad Khan has surprised local leaders because Khan has successfully completed his five-year tenure. Agencies New Delhi, Oct 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked scientists to aim to send the first Indian to the Moon by 2040 and set up an Indian space station by 2035, according to an official statement. Money laundering case: ED conducts searches in educational trust run by ex-minister’s wife

Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 17: The Enforcement Directorate Tuesday conducted searches in Jammu and adjoining areas as part of a money laundering probe against an educational trust run by ex-minister Lal Singh’s wife and a former government official in connection with alleged irregularities in land purchase to set up the trust, official sources said. The federal agency raided about eight premises in Jammu, Kathua and Punjab’s Pathankot in the case against RB educational trust, its chairperson and Lal Singh’s wife Kanta Andotra, as well as Ravinder S, a former revenue official. Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 17: Snowfall in the upper reaches and widespread rains in Jammu and Kashmir led to the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, Mughal Road, and the Srinagar-Leh highway for vehicular traffic, officials said on Tuesday morning. Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was blocked due to falling landslides and shooting stones following heavy rains.
