Historical debacle: Senior Cong leaders fail to get double-digit votes on their native polling booths | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 24: The Congress leadership has decided to review the polling booth-wise performance of the party’s senior leaders in the just concluded Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir in general and Jammu region in particular.
Highly placed sources said that the majority of senior party leaders have failed to secure respectable votes for the party candidates in their respective polling booths.
“There are as many as 275 members in the present Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee. Out of these 275 PCC members, only two dozen were successful in getting respectable votes in their respective polling stations”, a senior Congress leader, wishing anonymity, told the Early Times.
“What to say of PCC members even some senior leaders failed to get respectable votes in their polling stations”, the Congress leader said and added that in polling booths of some leaders, party candidates failed to get double-digit votes.

SRINAGAR, Oct 24: A policeman was injured in an explosion in the evidence room of a court in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said on Thursday.
“A grenade (collected as evidence in a case) exploded inside the ‘malkhana (evidence room)’ of a court in Baramulla town on Thursday,” a police official said.

SRINAGAR, Oct 24: Terrorists shot at and injured a labourer from Uttar Pradesh in the Tral area of Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir Thursday morning, officials said. Shubam Kumar, a resident of Bijnore, received a gunshot injury in the arm when the terrorists fired at him at Batagund village, the officials said.
They said Kumar has been rushed to a hospital for treatment.
This is a third attack on non-local labourers in Kashmir in the past one week.

Srinagar, Oct 24: A CCTV grab of a Pheran-clad terrorist allegedly involved in the Gagangir attack in Jammu and Kashmir has emerged here but investigators said they are yet to ascertain if the AK rifle-wielding assailant carried out the October 20 assault that left seven dead.
The ultra could be seen entering a prefabricated hut, believed to be at the Gagangir tunnel construction site — where seven people including six non-local labourers — were killed in the terror attack, official sources said.
