New Delhi, Dec 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the All India Institute of Ayurveda at Dhargal in Goa.
Modi arrived in the coastal state this afternoon to address the valedictory session of the 9th world Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo. Representatives from more than 50 countries took part in the Ayurveda Congress.

Jammu, Dec 11: Even as the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir have been “long awaited”, various stakeholders are discussing it in the national capital hinting at a decision on the crucial issue soon.
Sources said at the meeting recently chaired by the Union Home Secretary in the national capital on security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, the issue of security for “holding democratic activities in a big way” was discussed threadbare.

Srinagar, Dec 11: Two residential houses were gutted in a devastating fire incident at Batamaloo area of Srinagar early Sunday.
Fire and Emergency Service officials said that fire broke out in a residential house at Lakeshmanpora Danderkhan area of Srinagar at 2:41 am and engulfed another nearby house.
Fire engines from the nearby fire station reached the spot and doused the leaping flames before it could have spread to other residential houses of the area.
Two houses belonging to Shamsher Singh and Kishan Jeet Singh were gutted in the blaze.

New Delhi, Dec 11: Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud will on Monday administer the oath of office to Justice Dipankar Datta whose name was cleared by the Centre for judgeship in the Supreme Court.
Justice Datta, son of late Salil Kumar Datta, a former judge of the Calcutta High Court, and brother-in-law of Justice Amitava Roy, who was a former judge of the top court, will take oath at 10.30 AM in courtroom 1 of the Supreme Court.
With the swearing in of Justice Datta, the outgoing Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, the total number of judges at the top court will go up to 28 against the sanctioned strength of 34, including the CJI.

Jammu, Dec 11: The Jammu and Kashmir administration is planning to create an authentic database of all families in the Union territory with each of them having a unique alpha-numeric code - the objective being easy selection of eligible beneficiaries of various social welfare schemes.
The proposed move to allot "Family ID" has been welcomed by the BJP but slammed by other parties which raised concerns over personal data safety.

New Delhi, Dec 11: A cache of arms and ammunition, including two AK-47 assault rifles, was recovered by Border Security Force (BSF) troops on Sunday along the India-Pakistan International Border in Punjab, an officer said.
The recovery was made around 12 noon from Chandi Wala village in Ferozepur district when troops were on an “area domination patrol” and they observed some freshly dug soil. JAMMU, Dec 11: The security situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved post-abrogation of Article 370 from the then state in August 2019, as the number of terrorism-related incidents and terrorists has significantly reduced, according to a report.
The report stated that the terror incidents in J-K were 417 in 2018 which came down to 229 in 2021, while the number of terrorists operating in Kashmir has been reduced to below 100.
“Scrapping of Article 370, a temporary provision in the Constitution, has proven to be a major step towards restoring peace and normalcy in the erstwhile princely state,” the report said.
