Jammu, Apr 15: Breaking his silence after days of speculation, National Conference leader and Srinagar-Budgam MP Aga Ruhullah Mehdi revealed that he has been sidelined within the party for supporting students protesting against Jammu and Kashmir's current reservation policies.
Ruhullah, who has openly opposed the existing reservation framework, said the party leadership cut off communication with him after he joined an anti-reservation protest outside the official residence of then-Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on December 22, 2024. The protest was also attended by leaders from the National Conference and the Awami Itihad Party (AIP).

SRINAGAR, Apr 15: A fresh wet spell is expected across Jammu and Kashmir from Thursday which is likely to bring widespread rain in both regions.
The Meteorological Department said the forecast is mainly dry weather for the next 24 hours, with a possibility of isolated light rain or thundershowers over the subsequent two days.

India will experience above-normal cumulative rainfall this monsoon, the India Meteorological Department said on Tuesday, ruling out the possibility of El Nino conditions during the entire season.
India is likely to see above-normal rainfall in the four-month monsoon season (June to September) with cumulative rainfall estimated at 105 per cent of the long-period average of 87 cm,” India Meteorological Department (IMD) chief Mrutyunjay Mohapatra told a press conference here.

Jammu, Apr 15: An elderly lawyer allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his licensed gun in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, police officials said on Tuesday.
Ghulam Nabi Zargar shot himself at his residence in the Alyarabad locality of Kishtwar town around 11 pm on Monday, the officials said. According to preliminary investigation, the octogenarian was suffering from depression and used his 12-bore gun to end his life, police said.
