Jammu, Sept 21: Although the Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has appealed to Gen-Z to come to the streets against BJP government policies, Sangh Parivar’s student wing, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has registered sweeping victories in the student union elections of three prominent universities — Delhi University (DU), Hyderabad Central University (HCU), and Panjab University (PU).
The wins are being seen as a major morale booster for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a political setback for the Congress party.
While the Congress leadership is trying to downplay ABVP’s victories in these universities, the BJP has started an aggressive campaign on social media to taunt the grand old party.

New Delhi, Sept 21: Prices of kitchen staples to electronics, from medicines and equipment to automobiles, will get cheaper from Monday as the reduced GST rates on about 375 items come into effect.
In a bonanza to consumers, the GST Council, comprising Centre and states, has decided to reduce tax rates on goods and services, from September 22 — the first day of the Navaratri.
Mass consumption items like ghee, paneer, butter, ‘namkeen’, ketchup, jam, dry fruits, coffee and ice creams, and aspirational goods like TV, AC, washing machines will become cheaper.
Various FMCG companies have already announced reduction in prices in view of GST rationalisation.

New Delhi, Sept 21: The committed expenditure on salaries, pensions, and interest payments increased by 2.49 times to Rs 15,63,649 crore in fiscal 2022-23 across all states from Rs 6,26,849 crore in 2013-14, said a CAG report on state finances.
A large share of the revenue expenditure is either committed or tied up.
