Did Azad create 3 districts in Kashmir after appointing a commission? Revolt in Nowshera 4/1/2018 12:11:54 AM Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 31: The people of Jammu province's Nowshera tehsil are up in arms against the state government in general and the BJP in particular. They have been demanding district status for Nowshera-Kalakot-Sunderbani sub-divisions claiming that they would have got the district status in 1967 itself, had "certain vested interests in Rajouri not played a foul game". They are saying that their demand is just and it must be conceded. They are highly critical of the BJP, which has sought to weaken and defeat the ongoing 45-day-old massive and popular movement in Nowshera for district by telling them that it would make the state government appoint a new commission which would look into the demands being raised by people in different parts of Jammu province. The people of Nowshera are asking the BJP and other powers-that-be: Did Ghulam Nani Azad constitute a commission to look into the demands of people in Kashmir seeking more districts? The people of Nowshera do make a point by raising this question. Indeed, Ghulam Nabi Azad suvberted the Wazir Commission Report and created 8 new districts, four each in Jammu province and Kashmir region. The Wazir Commission had recommended three additional districts for Jammu province (Samba, Ramban and Reasi) and one for Kashmir (Bandipora). But Azad Government created 8 districts in 2008, including one 1-tehsil district Shopian, the hot bed of anti-India activities. And Azad created additional districts despite the fact that there was no demand for the creation of more districts. Ghulam Nabi Azad had himself acknowledged on the floor of the assembly that "there was no demand for the creation of more districts in Kashmir" and that "he created 4 districts each in Jammu province and Kashmir region to ensure parity between the regions"? "The BJP can't fool us. It must follow in the footsteps of Azad and confer the status of district on Nowshera-Kalakot-Sunderbani sub-divisions failing which they would intensify their movement," Subhash Kapoor, Chairman Beopar Mandal, Nowshera, on Saturday said.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
